Government Affairs Assistant

Dant Advocacy is seeking a Government Affairs Assistant to work with our government affairs team to provide administrative and logistical support. This is a part-time position (15-20 hours/week) with a flexible schedule including both remote work and in office work. Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the government affairs team.

  • Coordinate communications and interactions with government affairs clients.

  • Work with the government affairs team to manage legislative and political activities.

  • Assist with coordinating meetings and events and provide planning assistance to the team and clients as needed.

  • Organize meetings - including scheduling, sending reminders, and coordinating catering and other logistics.

  • Send updates from government affairs team members to clients.

  • Assist with organizing and recordkeeping relating to campaign contributions from clients.

  • Prepare client invoices, engagement letters, and contracts.

  • Assist in the preparation of proposals to potential clients.

  • Assist with preparing state lobbyist compliance filings.

  • Answer and direct telephone calls and messages.

  • Manage the firm’s day-to-day office operations including ordering and organizing supplies and working with vendors.

  • Provide high-level customer service to clients and all who interact with the firm.


Minimum requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, including 2-5 years of individual or combined experience with any or a combination of the following: billing, office management, bookkeeping, experience with the legislative process and/or state or local government.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with lobbyists, clients, legislators, legislative staff, and other contacts.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and with others in a cooperative, enthusiastic, and professional manner.

  • Ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Willingness to be flexible with work hours.

  • Enthusiasm, initiative, and professionalism in work.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Knowledge of Quickbooks is a plus.
